Carbondale police arrest 2 accused of vending machine thefts

CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) - Carbondale police have arrested 2 suspects accused of vending machine thefts.

Donny Lee Ricker, 30, of Carbondale was arrested and charged with theft from a coin operated machine, police said.  And, Emmanuel Buchanan, 23, of Carbondale was arrested and charged with theft under $500. Police say both were taken to the Jackson County Jail.

Investigators responded to a number of reports of thefts from coin operated machines throughout the city in July.

Police say in each instance an unknown suspect damaged a vending machine to gain access to a coin box inside, removing various amounts of money.
