Home considered total loss after early morning fire in Carterville

CARTERVILLE, IL (KFVS) - Fire crews responded to a house fire in Carterville, Illinois early Saturday morning.

Shortly before 3 a.m., the Carterville Fire Department received a call that a house on 308 East Illinois Street was on fire. When they arrived flames were shooting through the roof and out the back of the house.

Nobody was living in the home at the time. But the owner was using it for storage.

The State Fire Marshall was called into investigate the fire because the cause could not be determined.

The fire is not being called a suspicious fire at this time. But, the home and contents were pretty much destroyed by the fire.

It took the fire department more than 3 hours to get the flames extinguished in the home.
