Motorcycle wreck injures Indiana couple

FRANKLIN COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

An Indiana couple is injured in a motorcycle wreck in Franklin County.

The crash happened just before 10 this morning in the southbound lanes of interstate 57 about 3 miles south of the Benton Exit.

State troopers say a series of vehicles slowed down in the southbound lanes causing 51-year-old Chris Flemming of Marion to slow his car as well. That's when troopers say a motorcycle driven by 46-year-old Christopher McLeod lost control and rear-ended Flemming's car.

Both McLeod and his passenger, 45-year-old Penny McLeod had major injuries.

Emergency crews closed down the interstate to allow a med-evac helicopter to land the southbound lanes. Both McLeod's were airlifted to an Evansville hospital. No word on their conditions.

The crash backed up traffic for about an hour on the interstate. Lanes re-opened just before 11 this morning.

The driver of the car was not injured.
