ISLE OF PALMS, SC (WAVE) - A Louisville native has been identified as one of two people killed in a South Carolina plane crash.
Authorities in Isle of Palms say 27-year-old Cara Lee Donahue, formerly of Louisville, and 40-year-old Lucas McDowell Smith, both died Wednesday night from blunt force trauma.
"It started to turn upside down," said Rene Waters, who witnessed the crash. "The wing collapsed and it fell really fast and the person who was in it was alongside of it when it was falling from the sky. When it hit the water, there was a little explosion."
The plane is described as an experimental plane or flying boat.
