SCOTT COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - Both lanes of Interstate 55 are now open to traffic in Scott County as crews finished work early for the Route H overpass project.
Contractors worked to set beams for the new Route H overpass located south of Blodgett.
Interstate 55 was supposed to be closed from Benton (Exit 80) to Miner (Exit 69) for one 24-hour period. Traffic was detoured to Route 61 from 9 p.m. Saturday, July 16 to around 3 p.m. Sunday, July 17.
Completion of the Route H overpass is anticipated in mid-August, MoDOT said.
The project will be completed as part of the design-build portion of the Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program. Through the program, over 800 of the state's lowest-rated bridges will be improved by winter 2013.
