CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - The Broadway Corridor Project took center stage at a meeting in Cape Girardeau.
Anyone could attend Tuesday night's discussion and give their comments on two different layouts for the downtown area. View the layouts.
City staff and project consultants heard what the public had to say.
"You know I think the possibilities are just endless," said Kelly Green, city engineer. "This could be an area where people want to come to and spend time at and that's certainly what we want for the citizens here and the business owners."
"People enjoy authentic areas and so keeping the buildings that we have in really good shape and making sure we save that," said Marla Mills with the Old Town Cape. "History isn't just about historic preservation. It's about creating an environment where people want to be. They want to be in an authentic historic area. You know, something that means something to the community.
