POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) -

Police are searching for a burglary suspect who entered a Poplar Bluff business early Wednesday morning.

Officers with the Poplar Bluff Police Department responded to a report of a burglary Wednesday around 3:30 a.m. at the 5- Star China Buffet, located at 2035 North Westwood Blvd. in Poplar Bluff.

Police say the suspect gained entry to the business through a ventilation shaft in the roof.  He was apparently lowered in and raised back out using a large nylon strap.

Business owner Jian Shi reviewed surveillance footage, and found that the suspect fled the scene when he set off motion detectors in the front lobby area of the restaurant, according to Lt. David Sutton.

Police are asking  that anyone with information related to this crime contact the department.
