Services for 13 year old four-wheel rider killed in crash

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - A 13-year-old boy died as a result of his injuries from a 4-wheeler crash Saturday in Williamson County.

Family and friends said goodbye to Dalton Gourley of Thompsonville Tuesday.

The Marion Junior High student died Saturday when the ATV he was driving swerved to avoid a vehicle, went out of control and hit two guide wires.

Services for the young boy are Tuesday night at Blue Funeral Home in Marion.

According to the Williamson County Sheriff's Office, it happened around 1:56 p.m. on Fancy Farm Road, approximately 1/4 mile west of Thompsonville Road.

Witnesses say two 4-wheelers were going eastbound on Fancy Farm Road when a vehicle was moving toward them from the opposite direction.

Police say one of the drivers of the 4-wheelers overcorrected, lost control and struck two guide wires supporting a utility pole.

Gourley, who was driving the 4-wheeler, was taken to Heartland Regional Hospital and did not survive his injuries, according to the crash report.

Police say an accident re-constructionist was called to the scene.
