Early morning crash on I-55 causes state property damage

SCOTT COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - An early morning crash Saturday on Interstate 55 caused some state property damage.

It happened around 5:55 a.m. on Interstate 55 at the 80 mile marker in Scott County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred when a car ran off the road and struck a median guard cable. There was damage to a barrier cable and 13 post, according to the crash report.

Police say the driver 18-year-old Jordan C. Mitchell and a passenger 29-year-old Jill R. Butcher both of Clarkton received minor injures and were taken by ambulance to a Cape Girardeau hospital.

Both people were wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to the patrol.
