CARUTHERSVILLE, MO (KFVS) - Two men have been arrested in connection with a string of overnight armed robberies in Caruthersville early Saturday morning.
According to Police Chief Chris Riggs, it all started around 12:15 a.m. Saturday.
Someone called police to report a white male had entered the Casino Inn and Suites with his shirt covering his face. Riggs says the man went to the front desk and demanded cash. While police say he did not show any weapon, he told the clerk he had one.
The suspect got away before police arrived.
As officers were investigating the Casino Inn and Suites robbery, another call came in at 1:10 a.m. from the Economy Inn in town. The caller reported that a white male had also gone into that hotel and demanded cash. At this location, he showed the employee a knife.
The robber reportedly took off on a bicycle with an undisclosed amount of money.
A short time later, police caught up with a man who fit the description they're now calling a person of interest in the robberies. He was taken into custody.
Chief Riggs says the robberies didn't stop there. At 3:56 a.m., police received another report of an armed robbery. This time a white male had entered a home and demanded money.
Police aren't sure if the home robbery is connected to the hotel robberies, but the chief says at this point, he's not ruling anything out.
The names of the two men arrested have not been released.
