Two arrested after fireworks attack in Peoria

PEORIA, IL (KFVS) -

Police in Peoria have arrested two juveniles after what they're calling a fireworks attack on firefighters and police.

The two were arrested on charges of aggravated battery on police and mob action.

Investigators say firefighters and a few police officers were responding to a trash bin fire on the fourth of July.

Police say several hundred people were gathered to watch fireworks and blocked police from getting to the fire.  That's when investigators say someone started firing commercial-grade fireworks at firefighters as they tried to get the fire out.

Several officers and firefighters were burned.

Watch police dash cam video of the attack here from the Peoria Journal Star.
