Police arrest Carbondale man wanted in shooting

CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) -

Police have found and arrested a Carbondale man involved in a July 6, 2011 shooting.

Police arrested Sharron M. Greer, 22, of Carbondale Saturday, July 9 on an outstanding warrant charging him with aggravated discharge of a firearm and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, according to the department.

Police responded to the 400 block of E. Chestnut St. on July 6, 2011 with reports of reported shots fired.

Investigators learned around 6 p.m. that night several victims were approached by Greer who fired several rounds in their direction.

Police say it stemmed from a personal dispute among acquaintances. No one was hurt in the incident.

Greer was taken to the Jackson County Jail.

Police are asking for anyone with information about the incident  to contact the police department at (618) 457-3200 or Crime Stoppers at (618) 549-COPS (2677).

Officers say the investigation is continuing.
