MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

Police have arrested a Paducah man and charged him with 1st degree burglary of medication and guns.

Cary J. Barrett, 49, of Paducah is charged with the crime.

Police say Barrett of Ridge Lane became a suspect to the burglary of the home of James Jones due to recent cuts to his hands. Police say whoever had entered the home was injured by broken glass.

Michelle Freeman reported the Jones burglary where someone had forcibly entered his home on Ridge Lane and stole medicine and guns, police said.

Investigators say Barrett was responsible for several rifles found behind his home. Barrett later traded additional guns for pain medication.

The guns were recovered in Marshall County with the help of the sheriff's department.

Barrett was taken to the McCraken County Jail.
