SPRINGFIELD, IL (KFVS) - Officers issued more than 1,200 citations and warnings to boaters over the July 4 holiday weekend.
Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) Conservation Police arrested 25 boaters for driving under the influence and another 5 motorist for driving under the influence, according to IDNR.
According to IDNR, conservation police also issued 519 citations for other offenses and 776 written warnings statewide while on patrol in Ill. over the weekend.
Offenses for citations include possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia, underage drinking and disorderly conduct, boating law and safety violations and fishing citations.
Police also investigated 14 boating accidents and performed over 2,000 safety inspections.
