MT. VERNON, IL (KFVS) - Look for lane restrictions and possible delays on Interstate 57 for the next several months.
Crews have started a patching project which includes replacing the shoulders of I-57 in Jefferson County.
The work takes place during the nighttime hours from 6:00 in the evening until 8:00 in the morning.
Crews will first focus on the southbound lanes from miler maker 92 to mile marker 96. Once finished with the southbound lanes, the operation will move to the northbound lanes.
An I-DOT spokesman says at times there will be delays and drivers could be stuck in traffic for periods of time.
To avoid delays, you should plan an alternate route around the construction.
