Miners send 5 to Frontier League All-Star Game

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO - (KFVS)  The Southern Illinois Miners will send five to the Frontier League All-Star game July 13th in Avon, Ohio.

Representing the West All-Stars are Miners are second baseman Will Block, third baseman Nate Hall, catcher Sean Coughlin and pitchers Dave Harden and Ryan Zink.

Block (named a starter) is battling for the league batting title with a .358 average and has drilled six home runs.

"It's an honor to be named an all-star," Block said. "In the past, I've had my ups and downs, but this year I've been able to put it all together for a full half of a season. And it's an honor to be named a starter."

This is the second consecutive All-Star game for third baseman Nate Hall.  Going into Monday nights game against Windy City Hall is hitting .241 with four homers and 14 R.B.I.

Joining Hall as a reserve is catcher Sean Coughlin who is batting .245 and leads the team with 26 R.B.I.

On the mound Harden is currently third in the lead with a 2.01 ERA and 4-1 record, his teammate Ryan Zink is 3-1 with a 2.53 ERA.  Zink joined the Miners a week into the season after making a start for River City.
