Weekend stabbing victim dies

CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

Cape Girardeau County coroner John Clifton has confirmed the victim in Sunday's stabbing has died.

According to Clifton, Walter Claar, 37, passed away Wednesday night shortly before 11.

Police are still investigating the incident that happened at 3809 Old Route V Sunday morning just outside of Cape Girardeau.

Police say the disturbance resulted in Claar receiving stab wounds from a knife.

Claar was originally taken by ambulance to a local hospital where he underwent emergency surgery and was listed in critical condition.

Police say several witnesses were interviewed and the person who was believed to have inflicted the wound was identified and interviewed.

According to deputies, no arrests have been made and the investigation into the stabbing continues.
