Lt. Gov. Simon encourages flood victims to attend IEMA buyout meeting

CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) -

Illinois Lt. Gov. Sheila Simon is encouraging residents of Alexander County to attend a community meeting on July 5 to learn more about buyouts and flood mitigation options.

"Our community has been greatly impacted by this natural disaster and devastation, but together we are working to overcome these obstacles and learn about options available to the region," said Simon.

Alexander County along with Southern Illinois University (SIU), the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) and the Lt. Governor's Office, will host an informational meeting and answer questions about ongoing mitigation efforts.

The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on July 5 at the Egyptian School cafeteria, 20023 Diswood Road, Tamms.
