Driver killed in fiery Ripley County crash

RIPLEY COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - An afternoon wreck kills one person and seriously injures another.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol the wreck happened just after noon Monday on Highway P, six miles south of Highway 142.

According to troopers, the driver of the vehicle, 37-year-old Shawn Davis drove off the side of the road, struck a tree and a fence before the vehicle caught fire.

Investigators say Davis died at the scene.  The passenger, 24-year-old Timothy Tarver was flown to a Jonesboro, Arkansas hospital where he's listed in serious condition.

Right now it's not clear exactly what caused Davis to run off the road.
