Qulin man injured in motorcycle wreck

BUTLER COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

A motorcycle crash injures a Qulin man.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol - it happened around 8:30 p.m. Saturday on Butler County Road 216 two miles south of Oglesville.

Troopers say 56-year-old Steven Leutert was riding his 2005 Yamaha motorcycle eastbound on 216. He reportedly lost control while rounding a curve and the bike flipped.

Leutert's daughter Jessica Butler says Leutert and his 7-year-old grandson were returning from a fishing trip and hit loose gravel on a dirt road. Butler says Leutert set the bike down to avoid others that were fishing, while protecting his grandson from the crash.

According to Butler, her 7-year-old son is okay.

Leutert was wearing a helmet, but still sustained a broken leg and a broken shoulder.

He was taken by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center where he underwent surgery on Sunday morning.
