5K Run/walk held for victims of domestic violence

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

The 11th Annual Going the Distance 5K Run/Walk was held early Saturday morning in Cape Girardeau.

The proceeds from the event support the efforts of Safe House for Women for their work with victims of domestic and sexual violence.

More than 100 people showed up for the event. Officials say they raised around $12,000.

Various teams ran and walked, as well as "Team Jacque" who were there raising awareness concerning her disappearance.

Trophies were given to the males and females who won first place in each age division.
