West Paducah man arrested for unlawfully entering home, fired pistol

MARSHALL COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - A West Paducah faces various charges after entering a home on Thursday, firing a pistol and demanding money.

According to the Marshall Co. Sheriff's Office, James Gary Roberts, 28, of West Paducah was charged with:

•             wanton endangerment 1st degree

•             criminal mischief 1st degree

•             assault 2nd degree

•             burglary 1st degree

•             robbery 1st degree

On Tuesday June 21, 2011 police say Roberts entered a home on Benton Briensburg Road unlawfully.

Roberts knocked on the door and when the victim answered the door Roberts pushed his way into the home demanding money.

Roberts then pulled out a pistol and fired a shot into the television.

The victim then began asking the subject to leave and that is when the subject struck the victim with the pistol causing an injury.

Investigators say they found evidence that led them to identify Roberts to be the wanted subject.

Police say a warrant was issued for Roberts and he was said to be at Native Circle at the time. The Special Response Team located him and he was arrested on Thursday June 23, 2011 at 5:29 p.m.

Roberts was taken to the Marshall County Detention Center.
