Emergency responders from across the region along with family and friends honored a fallen firefighter Wednesday.
Corey Shaw, 22, was killed Friday in the line of duty when a wall collapsed on him during a massive fire on the Pinckneyville square.
Officials with the Perry County Sheriff's Department in Pinckneyville say the Antique Mall and the century-old Opera House are a complete loss.
Shaw had been a volunteer with the Du Quoin Fire Department since 2010 and was the son of Du Quoin Fire Chief Bob Shaw.
Shaw was given a hero's sendoff in Du Quoin at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Friends may make memorials to an education fund for Camryn Ray Shaw and will be accepted at the funeral home.
Julia Bruck will have more on what the city did to honor Corey Shaw later on Heartland News and kfvs12.com.
