MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - A McCracken County couple is injured when their home explodes early Wednesday morning.
Fire officials say Freddy and Debra Reed were in the living room of the home just before 5 a.m. when the entire house exploded.
All that's left of the two-story home is splintered wood, shattered glass, and insulation scattered all over the yard. In the middle of it all there's a charred center where a fire consumed what was left.
"When we got here, the only thing that was on fire was the first, ground floor, floor joist," said Hendron Fire Deputy Chief Doug Cooper.
"The rest of the structure: the walls the upper storey, the roof, everything had been blown clear of the actual structure."
A Kentucky Fire Marshal is investigating, but firefighters suspect a propane leak may have caused the explosion.
The Reeds have been taken to hospitals in St. Louis and Nashville for treatment of burns.
The Hendron FD, Lone Oak FD and Mercy Regional Ambulance responded to the explosion.
