Cape Girardeau police investigate late night shooting

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Cape Girardeau police confirm a shooting took place late Tuesday night, sending at least one person to the hospital.

Sgt. Jason Selzer with Cape Girardeau Police says officers received a call of shots fired in the area of Bloomfield and Hanover around 10:53 p.m. Tuesday night.

A 21-year-old Tennessee man told police he was walking in the 1000 block of Bloomfield when he heard a pop and was shot in the hand.

He did not provide any other details of the incident and could not give any details of a possible shooter or possible motive.

The victim drove himself to the hospital where he was treated. Police say he had a gunshot wound to his left palm area near his thumb.

The victim is currently staying in Fruitland.
