Late night wreck injures 6 on I-55

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Five people including four children were injured in a serious wreck on Interstate 55 Tuesday night.

The wreck happened around 10:35 Tuesday night, in the northbound lanes of the interstate.  It happened around the 96 mile marker.

Jason Selzer with Cape Girardeau Police says a 29-year-old woman from Nebraska was driving a 2004 Honda Pilot and tried to pass a tractor trailer when she was too close to the tractor trailer, swerved to stay away, and lost control.  The vehicle flipped several times and ended up in the middle of the interstate.

Five children, ages one, four, seven, 10, and 11, have serious injuries after they were all ejected.

The driver has moderate injuries.

Their names have not been released.
