Man faces DUI charge after slamming car into fire department

NEW HAVEN, IL (KFVS) -

A man faces a DUI charge after slamming his truck into the fire department early Thursday morning.

According to Illinois State Police, Jeremy Abell, 26, ran into the building after speeding and losing control of his car from the American Legion parking lot in New Haven just before 1 a.m. Thursday.

Police say the impact caused the building's roof to collapse on two sides.

Abell also got tickets for improper lane usage and failure to reduce speed to avoid and accident.
