Fire damages Carbondale mobile home

Carbondale firefighters battled a fire at a mobile home Wednesday afternoon.

Firefighters were called to unit #23 of the Tan Tara Mobile Home Park just after 3 p.m. Wednesday.

No one was home at the time.

A woman living there told firefighters she and her boyfriend were getting ready to make something to eat, went to town to pick up some things, and forgot to turn off the stove.

The couple had only been living in the home for about six months and have no renters insurance.

Firefighters estimate the fire did more than $3,000 damage to the trailer and their belongings.
