Sparta man drowns after swimming with friends

SPARTA, IL (KFVS) -

A man drowned last Thursday morning after going swimming with some friends just west of Sparta.

Larry "Bobcat" Williams Jr., 27, drowned early Thursday morning around 3 a.m., according to Randolph County Coroner Randy Dudenbostel.

Out swimming with friends when he went under

Friends could not locate him after he went under.

They called 911 and Sparta Fire and EMS responded.

Dudenbostel says it will take six to eight weeks for autopsy results.

Funeral Services will be at noon Wednesday at Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Sparta.
