Husband of deputy arrested for DUI, improper lane use

PULASKI COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - The husband of a Pulaski County deputy was arrested early Saturday morning for driving under the influence after going the wrong way on I-57 in Pulaski County.

Will A. Kern, 32, of Villa Ridge was arrested by Illinois State Police (ISP) for DUI, improper lane change and illegal transportation of alcohol, according to police.

ISP got a call around 12:08 a.m. Saturday morning of a wrong-way-driver on I-57 in Pulaski County. Troopers stopped Kern on the sound bound exit ramp of mile post 8.

Kern was taken to the Tri-County Jail in Ullin and released on bond.

ISP was assisted by the Pulaski Co. Sheriff's Office and the Mounds Police Department.

Earlier this week, Tara Kern was accused of providing firearms to her husband Will A. Kern who is a convicted felon in 2010 and 2011.

She is accused of giving him weapons that were obtained by her in her official capacity as a Pulaski County Sheriff's deputy.
