Ky. man charged with sending child porn to government office

LOUISVILLE, KY (KFVS) -

A Louisville man was indicted by a federal grand jury June 9, 2011 with possessing and transmitting child pornography.

According to U.S. Attorney David J. Hale, Anthony Edwards was accused of sending an email message on August 6, 2010 with 12 attached image files from United Kentucky Liberation Front to the Kentucky Attorney General's Office, consumer protection division.

Investigators say 7 of the attached pictures included child pornography and 5 pictures adult pornography.

The same message was addressed to 32 separate email addresses including the political action committees of various political figures and media outlets, Hale said.

Edwards admitted to investigators he had searched the Internet for the images attached to the August 2010 email and he knew some of the images were illegal.

The man also told investigators the had attached the "shocking" images in order for the message to be noticed.

Edwards is scheduled to appear for arraignment on June 10, 2011. If convicted he faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 5 years in prison, a maximum of 30 years in prison, a $500,000 fine and supervised release of at least 5 years.
