LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Patrick Towles isn't about to let nerves spoil the opportunity he has waited for his whole career. Kentucky's new starting quarterback knows his first career start in today's season opener against Tennessee-Martin won't be totally smooth. But considering the obstacles he overcame, he hungers for precision.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) - Miss Frost led from start to finish in a 4 3/4-length victory yesterday in the $100,000 Riskaverse at Saratoga Race Course. Ridden by Hall of Fame jockey Edgar Prado, the daughter of two-time Horse of the Year Curlin ran a mile on the inner turf course in 1:34.58 and paid $8.80, $4.60 and $2.90.

CINCINNATI (AP) - The Bengals released running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis yesterday. The move was anticipated after they drafted LSU's Jeremy Hill in the second round. Green-Ellis' role was reduced last year when Giovani Bernard was added to the backfield.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The Tennessee Titans are busy trimming their roster and still have to pick a new kicker along with a starting cornerback. First-year coach Ken Whisenhunt isn't ready to share which players have been told they won't make the roster or any other decisions until the deadline. Tennessee opens the season Sept. 7 at Kansas City.
