LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell's campaign manager is resigning as a result of a scandal involving a presidential campaign he worked for in 2012. Jesse Benton calls the decision heartbreaking but the right one to keep the matter from becoming a distraction in Kentucky's Senate campaign. His announcement stems from a political scandal in Iowa.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A 67-year-old Louisville woman who brought home a blue ribbon for her buttermilk pie at this year's Kentucky State Fair may lose the prize after saying she used a store-bought crust. Linda Horton said she hasn't had any success in making her own crust, so she used one from the grocery.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - After a 1-year-old girl was shot and killed in Louisville, family members and community activists are calling for an end to violence. Police say someone killed the child on Wednesday and wounded her mother outside their home in Louisville's west end.

JACKSON, Ky. (AP) - State police have charged an eastern Kentucky man who was behind the wheel in a deadly crash with three counts of murder, two counts of assault and driving under the influence. Media cited Kentucky State Police in reporting the charges against 19-year-old Shawn Hardin of Jackson.
