LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A wintry mix struck western Kentucky and first and moved eastward as a line of snow storms spread across the eastern half of the U.S. The National Weather Service issued winter storm warnings for western and central Kentucky through this morning. Eastern Kentucky has a flood watch in effect into the morning.
FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Some landowners in the path of a pipeline project want a court ruling on whether the developers can take control of their land through eminent domain. A group called Kentuckians United to Restrain Eminent Domain filed a lawsuit Thursday in Franklin Circuit Court.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Nearly a week after an eastern Kentucky animal shelter burned, crews found a cat alive in the rubble. Lexington Humane Society Director of Development Madison Carey says Freckles the cat was found Thursday in the remains of the Knox-Whitley Animal Shelter. The cat had severe burns and breathing problems, but is expected to survive.
DETROIT (AP) - U.S. Sen. Rand Paul says lowering taxes for businesses in struggling cities like Detroit is the best way to confront poverty and unemployment. The Kentucky Republican met with business and community leaders yesterday at a Detroit Economic Club luncheon.
