Does it Work Wednesday: WEN hair care system

CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

Watch just a few minutes of the infomercial for WEN hair care, and as intended, the makers make you scratch your head and think, "Hmm...maybe I should try this concept? a lot of celebrities do!"

Krystle Brooks thought that.

"It looked like it worked, so I called."

Krystle describes her hair as fine, naturally curly and in need of volume.

With WEN, the idea is you never shampoo your hair, which means you never strip your mane from its natural oils. Instead, you constantly condition it.

"It's strange."

Yup, there aren't' any suds, since it's a conditioner. Instead, section your hair then apply a goopy dollop. This is supposed to take the place of shampoo, conditioner, detangler, deep conditioner and leave-in conditioner...all products Krystle says she uses.

"You have to be patient. It's goopy."

The longer you leave it set, the more it supposedly conditions. Krystle says on busy work days, she just puts it on first thing in the shower, then rinses it off later.

It didn't take the recommended 30-day trial period for her to see a difference.

"Instantly, I started seeing fuller hair, more body. I can see the difference.."

We could also tell a difference in her 'before and after' pictures. Before, she says her hair is tangled and lifeless. After rinsing and blow-drying, she notes the volume.

"It's high. I mean I could go out like this. Normally, I would straighten it. I'd have to tease it because my hair is so flat."

Krystle says the effects last. She also applied the bonus deep conditioner and gel for us. She really likes those, too, but she doesn't use them daily because she doesn't want to over-load her fine hair with products.

Meantime, I asked our viewers on Facebook what they think of this $100 hair care line. Several agree they like skipping the shampoo and use wen instead. A few say they didn't feel like their hair felt clean, especially after exercising or sweating. Others say they like it, but quit using it because of the cost.

Krystle, though, says she's wasted a lot of money over the years searching for something that works for her hair, and WEN is it.

"I would pay it. I like the results."

So, based on her results will agree with her letter grade.

"B or B plus."

We'd like to see the 3-month $100 supply go down in price, Chaz Dean's WEN hair care system gets the nod of approval with a 'B' on this Does it Work test.  You can buy it online or on QVC shopping network.
