Proud to be a Heartland Farmer

The Heartland has firm roots in the agricultural industry. While some have moved on to other industries, there are still those that continue the proud farming tradition. With their intelligent minds and quiet thoughtfulness, farmers persevere through wars, great economic strife, domestic turmoil, foreign policy mistakes and natural disasters. Farmers aren't quitters. They are the dedicated stewards of the land and animals that provide our area with food, clothing, building products and much more. In addition, farmers are the ones you will find helping their neighbor when the need arises.

Thomas Jefferson wrote, "Let the farmer forevermore be honored in his calling, for they who labor in the earth are the chosen people of God." And so to, we look to honor the base of our economy, the strong agriculturalists.

KFVS is again seeking nominations from viewers all across the Heartland for inspirational farmers who do amazing work.  We will run a feature story each month about a farmer selected from the nomination forms. Nominations can be submitted now until the end of the promotion. Each month KFVS will review the nominations received. The six Heartland farmers were and their special profiles are scheduled to air the 3rd Sunday of the month during Heartland News at 10, during the 4:30 segment of the Breakfast Show on Monday morning and during Heartland News at Noon on Monday. Sunday airings will be June 24, July 22, August 26, September 23, October 28 and November 25. Each selected farmer will be posted here.  The video story will be posted shortly after it airs in the newscast.
