NEW HAMBURG, MO (KFVS) -

With all the rain and flooding going on, it's no surprise we're inside for a product you normally use outside....bubbles!

Kindergartners from Kelso C-7 schools in New Hamburg are among the many kids whose classes dismissed early due to high water, but on this day, the only water they're concerned about is in the bubble bottles!

Already Crayola's new Washable Colored Bubbles and Jelly Belly's banana-scented variety are both hits!

"That's good. It does smell like bananas!" said Kaden Enderle, student.

It truly does and the scents lasts for a good while, but the real talker here is the colored version.

"It's bleeding!"

Not really, but the boys love the color left behind does kind of looks like a wound. The girls describe this as a rainbow, but don't be fooled.

"I love getting messy!" said Emma Steimle, student.

So, does all of this come out? Art teacher Natalie Jones used these at home with her own kids.

Her advice is to NOT wear nice clothing when playing with this.

Natalie also says when Crayola claims "washable", the company should add "wash a few times."

"It took a couple of washes for the bubbles to come out, so that wasn't great," said Jones.

It also took a few times to wash the hands clean, with the mess now in the sink.

So, forget the Kool-aid mustache. You'll have a bubble 'stache with these!

We recommend only using these outside with the kids wearing old swimsuits and perhaps water sprinkler nearby.

When these bubbles pop, the color splats everywhere.

At least it makes a good art project that both this art teacher and her students approve.

"B+ because they did work, but they're a mess!" said Jones.

"An 'A'!" screamed the students.

So, follow our advice and handle with care if you buy the $4 Crayola Colored Bubbles. I can't look past the mess though. I color it with a good grade 'B' at most.

Meantime, the mess-free and quite scented Jelly Belly bubbles also are a hit.

The $2 scented bubbles come out smelling quite clean with an 'A' on this colorful Does it Work test.  I bought both products at Wal-Mart in Cape Girardeau.
