PERRY COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

As crews continue assessing damage in Perry County, Missouri, the Southeast Missouri chapter of the American Red Cross disaster volunteers activated its response.

Volunteers headed out Wednesday morning with the Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) to Perryville. The volunteers will help provide food, shelter and clothing.

They're specifically responding to residents of the Hilltop Apartment complex, which had its roof torn off by high winds.  Heartland News reported one person inside that complex was hurt.

The Red Cross opened a Red Cross shelter at First Baptist Church 416 North Main, Perryville, MO 63775 at 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Red Cross director Cheryl Klueppel said if anyone needs assistance or more information, contact the American Red Cross at 573-335-9471.
