Severe storms moving across the Heartland have caused damage and knocked out power.
Several schools closed after the storms:

- Elverado Schools in Elkville, IL
- Du Quoin, IL Schools
- Marquand, MO Schools
- Notre Dame Schools in Cape Girardeau
- Meadow Heights R-II in Patton, MO
Ameren reported more than 3,000 without power in southeast Missouri and more than 30,000 without power in southern Illinois Tuesday night.

10:50 p.m. - Pea sized hail in Portageville, Mo.
10:19 p.m. - Small hail reported. Downed power lines in La Center, Ky.
10:16 p.m. - Dime sized hail in East Prairie, Mo.
10 p.m. - Wind gusts occurring along the Mississippi and New Madrid county line. Wind strong enough to move vehicle. 70 mph
9:55 p.m. - Rotating funnel at Parma, Mo.
9:51 p.m. - Wind gust measured at 95 mph. Numerous trees and power lines down. Power outages reported.
9:38 p.m. - Several large trees down in Mount Vernon, Ill.
9:38 p.m. - .88 inch hail in Chaffee, Mo. Large trees down with one down on a house. Power outages in the city.
9:27 p.m. - Unconfirmed tornado reported near Randles, Mo. Being chased by trained spotters.
9:25 p.m. - Mobile home that was not tied down has blown away in Wayne City, Mo. A few farm sheds have been damaged near the Wayne/Jefferson County line.
9:07 p.m. - 70 mph winds in Harrisburg, Ill.
9 p.m. - Widespread trees and power lines down in Sesser, Ill.
8:57 p.m. - 56 mph winds in West Frankfort, Ill.
8:54 p.m. - 60 mph winds in Benton, Ill.
8:45 p.m. - .75 hail in Sikeston, Mo.
8:41 p.m. - Winds estimated 60 to 70 mph gusts with entire community of Energy, Ill. without power.
8:38 p.m. - 55 mph winds in Christopher, Ill.
8:35 p.m. - 66 mph wind in Carbondale, Ill.
8:34 p.m. - 60 mph wind in Pinckneyville, Ill.
8:29 p.m. - 58 mph wind in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
8:19 p.m. - Barn blown into State Highway B in Daisy and trees are down across roadway making it impassable.
8:08 p.m. - 1 foot of water over Highway 329 between Ellsinore and Van Buren
8:04 p.m. - Unconfirmed tornado reported by emergency manager just west of community along Highway EE in Sedgewickville.
7:55 p.m. - Winds estimated 70 to 75 mph. Widespread damage reported by EM west and north of Marble Hill. Majority of damage appears to be straight line winds. Some homes have roof blown off. Widespread tree damage.
7:47 p.m. - Trees down on west side of Greenville.
