CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - An 80-year-old man was rescued after being trapped in waist-deep mud behind Tipton Uniform and Linen in Cape Girardeau.
The rescue happened Sunday afternoon at 1401 Independence.
Firefighters say the man was working behind the building. Some workers were doing some digging and that's when he became trapped.
It's not clear if he was in a hole and the sides caved in on him, or if a pile of mud fell on top of him.
Crews from Cape Girardeau, Scott City and Jackson worked for about 50 minutes to get him out.
They used a harness to hold him up while they dug him out.
