ANNA, IL (KFVS) - Nearly every community in the Heartland was impacted by storms on Friday afternoon.
And the Anna, Illinois community was pelted by hail, and howling winds sending huge trees crashing into two family homes.
The Stoner family home was damaged when their neighbors Maple tree came toppling down, ripping a gapping hole in their roof.
"I was just up at my buddies house and the sky turned green, " said Joshua Stoner.
"And I figured I had better get my dogs inside. As I was coming down the hill I pulled into the driveway and just saw the tree coming down. I ran inside real quick and saved the dogs."
A tree removal company spent most of Saturday afternoon removing the massive tree off the family's home.
Just across town at the Pribble family home, they too spent part of their Saturday removing a tree from the side of their house.
"The winds picked up and really started blowing very hard," said Mark Pribble.
"I was looking out the front window when I heard a crashing noise. I thought initially it was thunder and lightening. But there was no flash. So when I looked out the back window I seen a tree laying on the side of the house."
And Pribble says things could have been much worse if the tree had been closer to his home.
"If the trunk would have hit it would have come all the way through. Thank God it was thirty feet away, or it would have been very bad."
Fortunately no one was injured, and both families homes can be repaired.
Two vehicles were also heavily damaged by falling trees in Anna, on Friday.
