Man is robbed by police impersonator

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - A woman impersonates a police officer and gets away with a man's money on Friday morning.

According to police, a man received a call from a woman who was introduced to him the night before. The woman asked for directions to his home and said she would be there in a few minutes.

The woman arrived and introduced herself as "Amber," and went inside the home, said police.

The woman said she was an undercover police officer and needed the man to go outside.

John Crutcher, 47, went outside and was told to turn away with his hands in the air. Police say the woman had a small radio in her hand and acted like she was talking on it.

Police say she proceeded to get the victims I. D. out of his pocket and told Crutcher he had felony warrants on him, and back-up was on its way.

Crutcher heard her drive away and turned to see his I. D. on the ground and $130 missing from his billfold, according to McCracken Co. Deputy Malcolm Couch.

The suspect was driving a Black Honda Civic with Illinois plates, according to Couch. Police say the woman is described as 5'9", 110 pounds with sandy-blond hair and a thin build.

Investigators say they are actively pursuing the suspect.
