Mo. Denim Day: Taking a stand against violence

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Many are spreading awareness against sexual violence, rape, assault and dating violence by wearing denim.

Mo. Denim Day will be held on April 27, 2011. The campaign, according to Education Coordinator Mindy Sanders, gives people a chance to make a social statement with their fashion, while supporting survivors of sexual assault and spreading awareness about sexual violence.

"Our agency supports Denim Day because of our mission to speak out for and advocate on behalf of victims for violence," said Linda Garner, Executive Director, Safe House for Women. "So many of our clients have experienced sexual violence during their childhood years or as part of their domestic violence experience as an adult."
