There are several boil orders in place right now in southern Illinois.
The city of Murphysboro has issued a boil order for the entire city. That includes Murphysboro water and sewer customers. It's in place until further notice. According to a release from the city, a construction company cut into the service line from the Kinkaid Water District. Crews are working to repair the damaged line.
The Murdale water district also under a boil order right now. Curtis Mezo, the district manager, said the boil order is because of a leak and repair on the Kinkaid water main. If you plan on using water for drinking or cooking, you should boil it for at least five minutes.
The Village of Desoto has also issued a boil order for the entire village. That order includes rural customers. This boil order in place because of a water main break.
