Pinckneyville Police Chief John Griffin says Joseph Hurley of Waterloo was brought to the hospital unresponsive.  Hospital personnel tried to treat him, but were unsuccessful.

PINCKNEYVILLE, IL (KFVS) - Police Chief John Griffin says the two people who left the body of a 25-year-old Waterloo man at the Pinckneyville hospital are on their way back from Florida to talk to authorities.

Griffin says the two headed south shortly after leaving Joseph Hurley with emergency crews.

Family members reportedly convinced them to come back.

Chief Griffin says they believe Hurley's death may be drug-related, but they'll have to wait on toxicology reports.

The hospital called police just before 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The Perry County Task Force, coroner's office, Illinois State Police, and Pinckneyville Police Department are investigating.
