Two arrested in Metropolis meth bust

METROPOLIS, IL (KFVS) - Two people are jailed on drug charges following a police search of a home and a car.

Metropolis Police and agents with the Southern Illinois Drug Task Force officers arrested Brent Hearn, 29 and Renee Rush, 29, both of Metropolis just after 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Authorities seized several items out of the trunk of a 2003 Chevrolet Impala registered to Rush including: two metal cans containing more than 2,000 grams of suspected liquid methamphetamine, two 32 ounce bottles of lye, cold packs (ammonia nitrate), a lithium battery, and an HCL generator.

Police impounded the vehicle.

Officers also found a set of scales, aluminum foil, plastic sandwich bags, a respirator mask and two glass pipes in a search of Hearn's bedroom at the home.

Both Hearn and Rush are now charged with aggravated participation in methamphetamine manufacture, and possession of methamphetamine precursors.

They're now being held in the Massac County Jail.
