PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) -

Kentucky State Police on Friday launched an investigation into the death of an inmate at the McCracken County Jail in Paducah.

According to state police, deputy jailers found Mark A. Bagwell, 47, of Paducah, unresponsive in his cell around 5:00 a.m. Friday.  He was pronounced dead a short time later.

Paducah police had arrested Bagwell for alcohol intoxication in a public place, and Bagwell had been booked into the jail around 3:00 a.m.

Bagwell was the only inmate in his cell at the time, state police said.  Investigators did not suspect foul play.
