Two arrested after leaving pharmacy

METROPOLIS, IL (KFVS) - Two Massac County residents face drug charges after police found methamphetamine, marijuana, and prescription medication.

Karen S. Sharp, 33, of Joppa, Ill. is charged with possession of methamphetamine precursors and also possession of cannabis, after police found a small amount of marijuana on her.

Stevie A. Moreland, 50, of Joppa, Ill. is charged with possession of methamphetamine precursors and also possession of a controlled substance after they discovered a bag of Percocet pills in his pocket.

Metropolis Police stopped a 1996 Chevy Blazer at 3:30 p.m. Thursday after the vehicle left a Metropolis pharmacy.

Police found packages of Aleve D cold and sinus medicine containing pseudoephedrine, a plastic bag containing an empty plastic soda bottle, a torn box of naproxen Aleve and a full unopened can of Drano in the SUV.

Sharp and Moreland were taken to the county detention center.

The elderly driver of the SUV was released without charges.
