MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - Three people were injured in a crash between a semi truck and van Friday morning on Interstate 24 in McCracken County.
It happened at 6:56 a.m. near the 16 mile marker, according to the McCracken County Sheriff's Office and Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
Dawn Hood, 30, of Carbondale, Ill. was driving a 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan eastbound on I-24 when another vehicle was merging into traffic from on ramp. Hood thought the vehicle was coming into her lane so she swerved to miss the vehicle, lost control, traveled across the median and hit a semi truck head on.
Dennis Rajala, 61, was traveling east on I-24 when the van driven by Hood hit him. The semi overturned.
Hood was taken to Lourdes Hospital for injuries. Hood's passengers, Jean Covington, 27, of Ratoul, Ill. and Hood's son Noah Hood, 5, were taken to Western Baptist. They all had moderate to severe injuries.
Rajala, the driver of the semi, refused treatment at the scene.
