WASHINGTON (CNN) - A Florida congresswoman is in line to become the next chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC).
House Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-FL, announced Tuesday that she is President Barack Obama's choice for the job.
Wasserman Schultz will replace Tim Kaine, who is running for a U.S. Senate seat in Virginia.
In a statement, Wasserman Schultz explained that Obama's re-election is the Democrats' top priority.
Wasserman Schultz was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2004. She will be only the third woman to lead the Democratic Party.
