CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) - Six-year Carbondale City Council member Joel Fritzler will now take over the mayor's seat.
Fritzler won in Tuesday's consolidated election with 938 votes, or 33.6 percent.
George Maroney, who was the top-vote getter in the primary election, fell to Fritzler with 745 votes or 26.7 percent.
Sam Goldman had 586 votes or 21 percent of the vote.
Steven Haynes received 522 votes or 18.7 percent.
Voter turnout was fairly low given the hotly-contested four man race. Only 2791 out of 11169 registered voters cast a ballot in Tuesday's election.
